Andrew Desautels joins our team in North America

Steer is pleased to re-welcome Andrew Desautels, Associate, to our North American team. Andrew was an original member of Steer’s Boston office and returns after working as a singleton consultant for the last five years.

Andrew is an experienced transportation consultant with broad expertise in demand forecasting, market analysis, transit planning, transportation policy, and small-scale software development across a variety of clients in the aviation, highway, trucking, public transit, and passenger rail sectors. His demand modeling experience covers work with multimodal regional network models, as well as the development of custom models for the evaluation of specific road and rail projects, with much of this work focused on managed lanes and other toll facilities. Andrew’s market research work includes design, administration, and analysis of several large-scale travel surveys, and in public transit, he has been involved in the identification of transit needs, options generation and evaluation, and in estimating the public benefits of transit investment.

In several of Andrew’s projects, he has been responsible for developing small-scale custom software tools for use by clients following project completion. These include tools to forecast demand for specific managed lane projects, to produce sketch-level demand forecasts for user-selected rail corridors, and to evaluate the costs and benefits of electronic credentialing for trucks. Andrew also has web development and general programming experience with multiple languages and many modern development tools.

“We are delighted to have Andrew re-join the Steer team,” said colleague Mark Buckmaster. “He brings a wide range of experience across transport modes and a unique skillset of programming and technology skills that will help diversify and grow Steer’s offer throughout the U.S.”
